Protecting Our Heroes: A Tribute to Safety and Innovation

Challenge
The Plastics Make it Possible® campaign highlights the many ways plastics improve our lives, solve problems, and help us design a safer future. Nowadays most people do not care that our first responders’ protective gear is made of plastic, or that plastic packaging protects our food. For many, plastic is the enemy.

Plastic was never intended to be over-produced and over-consumed at this astronomical rate. We needed to creatively show the good and make people care.
Solution
We produced several short videos to show that in moderation and with proper disposal, plastic can be lifesaving. All of the films are rooted in compassion, love, and safety. Each film told a story where plastic was integral to the success of the characters. We used real authentic unique stories.

Hudson Dog Film
a short video for Plastics Make it Possible® about the journey of a dog named Hudson, who was left for dead on railroad tracks in upstate New York, an act of cruelty that left him without a rear paw. Thanks to a new plastic prosthetic paw, Hudson is able to live a full life with the freedom to run, jump, and play.

The Hudson film video went viral, garnered over 4 million views and inspired Plastics Make it Possible® to join with Humane Society of the United States to raise funds to help rescue more animals.

Food Is Love Film
The Shukla family sees food as a means of love. Shakti is a mom of three and she knows the power of food so she uses plastic to protect food to preserve and sustain and her family.

Protecting Our Heroes Film
They run into burning homes, brave raging floodwaters, battle devastating wildfires, and help stop epidemics. These are the heroes featured in “Protecting Our Heroes: A Tribute to Safety and Innovation,” film, on line gallery, and multi-city pop-up exhibit.
